Hints for using Family Record Keeper
- Put this book with your cookbooks or next to the computer where you will know where to find it and can easily access it.
- Write down only information you are comfortable having with your other records.
- Punch holes in a small manila envelope and insert in binder. Use for current photos, etc.
- Or use photo corners on the back of individual divider pages to include current photo

- Arrange pages in order that works best for you. Remove pages you don’t need.
- Use note pages from back to extend any areas where more room is needed for additional information.
- Make your own extra pages. Paper is the size of a half sheet of type paper. Hole punched margin is .75", all others are .5".
- Move address pages to individual sections to record names that are pertinent to that person, such as piano teacher, baseball coach, best friends, etc.
- Use one school schedule for each year, not each child. Put near front of book where it is easy to find.
- Move Year-in-review to front of book to quickly jot down dates and events as they happen. Include both large and small events.
- For Newly -weds: Fill names of spouses’ parents and brothers and sisters in family pages. Move address page to family section and include names and addresses of both spouses’ families.
- Always have an emergency contact phone number for family members living away from home. Could be a neighbor, roommate, etc. If your child loses his cell phone, how do you contact him?
- Keep track of elderly parents. Write down their medicare numbers wishes, etc.
- Take this book when registering your child at a new school,
- or to doctor’s appointments and jot down instructions. Extra note page at the back can be inserted if extra room is needed.
- Note down employer references and contacts.
- In Things I’d Like My Family to Know, write special thoughts, beliefs, testimonies, distribution of personal items, funeral arrangements, etc.
- In Resume of My Life Experiences, record jobs, memberships, leadership, volunteer work, special experiences, etc.
